Bill Jones

My name is Bill Jones, I have been a member of the Ossipee Valley fair since 1994. In 2012 I became the president and I’m very honored, humbled and proud to hold this position. I have also served on the finance committee and served as chairman of said committee. I’m the department head for summer ground rentals which is essential to ensure that we collect enough income for the required maintenance and upkeep of the fair. I also assist the grounds department head in overall upkeep of the grounds to include raking, mowing, trash pickup to name just a few.

It takes a village to keep a fair operating at the top and our members are the components that keep our fair running at a high level. I’m a firm believer in community support and will continue to help whenever I can. Our fair is known as the “Friendliest of Fairs” and we do our very best to live up to this motto.

I am a member of the MAAF board of directors entering my third year on the board. Currently I have been assigned to the bylaws and budget committees. I’m very proud to be a member of this group and look forward to helping all our state fairs.

I’m a state fair evaluator having done this for two years and starting my third year. What a great job to have, I have really enjoyed this job and as I have said many times “there are no better people on this earth than Maine farmer fair folks”. All fairs are beautiful and unique in their own ways.

I’m a graduate of Mt Blue high school in Farmington Maine with the class of 1971. I am a veteran of US Air Force 1973-1977 and honorably discharged. I was employed at Portsmouth Naval Shipyard from 1980-2008, retiring as a Senior Engineering Technician and went on to be employed for the government contractor CACI from 2008-2020.
